I had the pleasure of joining Donna Jones on her podcast, That’s Just What I Needed, to share insights from my book, When Your World Ends: God’s Creative Process for Rebuilding a Life. In our conversation, I reflected on the reality that life often doesn’t go as planned. Many of us grow up believing in a checklist—education, marriage, career, family—but we’re rarely told that some boxes might need to be checked more than once. When unexpected loss wipes away those carefully made checkmarks, it can leave us wondering how to begin again.
Life doesn’t always unfold as planned. Share on XYet, through my grief, God unveiled a path forward—a divine process for rebuilding, inspired by the creation story: God’s Creative Process for Rebuilding a Life. In my book, I outline this transformative seven-step process, starting with the foundational step: reconnecting with God.
When life falls apart, it’s natural to feel distant from God, questioning His plans or even His presence. But God never abandons us—He awaits, ready to bring light to our darkness. Reconnection starts with raw honesty, bringing our grief and doubts to Him, just as Job and the psalmists did. It’s about wrestling with our pain while staying in His presence. As we cling to Him, even in doubt, He meets us where we are, guiding us toward healing, renewal, and the next steps in our journey.
