As I shared a couple of weeks ago, I will be living in the United Kingdom for 2-6 months. I also compared this opportunity to a factory reset of my laptop. A factory reset removes all the customizations an owner makes to a laptop restoring it back to its original settings. I see this reset as a way God is pruning things from my life to make room for all the new things He is going to bring into my life.
At the time I wrote that post, I thought the pruning would begin when I went to the United Kingdom. However, last weekend, I realized the pruning had already begun.
This realization became clear as I began to fight a cold, not COVID, just a normal garden variety cold. Remember those? Anyway, the cold laid me low. Having not experienced a cold since before the COVID pandemic, I’d forgotten how discombobulating one can be and how it can wreak havoc on your schedule and plans.
Basically, I got nothing done last weekend or the beginning of this week for that matter. I literally spent the whole weekend in bed. When I began to recover, I was lethargic, sluggish, and generally slow to rebound.
I see this reset as a way God is pruning things from my life to make room for all the new things He is going to bring into my life. Share on XIronically, I—a Type A, task-oriented personality—was quite at peace to simply rest and relax. In my spirit, I knew I needed it. Sensing it was time, I began laying some things aside. As this week continued, I realized it was time to take a break from my blog writing.
Earlier this year, I struggled to develop a rhythm in blogging each week. This Spring though, I hit my stride. As a result, I have posted a blog each week for the past six months. Now, though, God is releasing me while I prepare to go to the United Kingdom.
I will be returning in the new year.
This isn’t goodbye though. I will be returning in the new year. I just need some time to prepare for and make the transition to the UK. When I return, I will post about the transition—hopefully, with some pictures of my adventures—and continue our study of the book of Ruth.
In the meantime, you can get nuggets from me each month via my newsletter, which you can sign up for at the bottom of this post. The sign up is labeled “Stay in Touch.” You can also follow me on social media where I will be posting updates on my travels. Links to my social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) are below the newsletter sign up.
Until the new year…
Agape—loving and loved by Jesus,
